TCHAIKOVSKY IN FLORENCE

When Vadim Gluzman comes to Villa Musica, you can always expect something special. The violin virtuoso from Israel usually performs in the world's largest concert halls. At Villa Musica, he makes time for chamber music. In the beautiful museum at Rheinfels Castle, he shines with a Villa Musica violin scholarship holder in Prokofiev's virtuoso duo sonata. Two young cellists test their strength on tricky Boccherini. The four then join forces with two violists from Villa Musica to create the most opulent string sextet ever written: Tchaikovsky's Remembrance of Florence is a symphony for six strings that is somewhere between Italian rapture and operatic tragedy – 45 minutes that are among the most beautiful that chamber music has produced.
